It’s NOT ME that loves the laundry
S.O. loooooves the laundry. She finds it relaxing; considers it a hobby even. And wants nothing so much as a high-end front-loader through whose window she can watch the soothing tumble of clothes getting clean. What that means is that I, as a person extremely aware of S.O.’s (dare I say?) obsession, generally find myself attracted to wash-related impedimenta for her sake. It does, after all, make her so happy. Anyway.
In related news, the laundry room is, randomly, a room in which I really like a few elements of traditional cottage style. I like white. I like soap cans. I like that whole Martha Stewart take on rustic. So, when a bit of pre-xmas shopping led me to this drying rack, I was a little bummed that we don’t have the wall-space needed to accomodate it. In addition to its charming use of the definitive white paint and beadboard, it’s a fantastic space-saver. And, as you might guess, when someone in your house loves laundry, there is a non-stop need for places to hang stuff that can’t go in the dryer.
We still might rejigger things to work in the small version of the rack (It comes in 3 sizes. The one in the pic is the large.), but I really love this large size so I keep coming back to it. Maybe my Christmas miracle will be a sudden unexplained 10×10 addition on the laundry room. Or a half bath. Either way.

It seems that it wouldn’t be *too* difficult to make one to fit, really. If you have the right tools!
I do like that, though. But my laundry room is even smaller than yours.
hey jen i think you’re totally right about building one. In fact, right after posting about this, we measured the laundry room to see if a custom-sized one that we build ourselves would work. It’s back on the possibility list!
Well, be sure you do the lettering at the top. I’m so in love with lettering as design whether they actually spell words or not. Must be the printer influence, eh?
That looks really good!
