Bad Girls, Bad Girls, Whatcha gonna do…

Okay so I know these safety glasses look kinda like the ones that particularly a-hole cops (You know the ones. They tend to be, like, volunteer sheriff’s deputies.) find de rigeur, but that’s not what’s important here. What is important is that they are designed for women: smaller profile, closer fitting, better earpieces. And they are absolutely indespensable if you are working with power tools. As an added bonus, Amy Wynn Pastor, who is awesome and way more delightful than Ty Pennington (Yes I know. Women love that guy but that is one 44-year old Peter Pan complex I can really live without.) is the spokesperson for this particular line.

Some backstory: Before we started restoring our cottage, I’d never had much use for safety gear. Anything I’d used fogged up, didn’t fit, fell off, etc. so I just didn’t bother with it. That was not cool. I was foolish. I repented.

One day I decided to do a little web research and see if someone makes safety gear for us lady-folk that wouldn’t irritate me as noted above. I found that they do and I ordered some glasses immediately. Eureka! It changed my DIY world. My eyes were actually shielded from the likes of sawdust, hot paint chips, and glass shards.

And here’s something great that’s happened: Since I bought my glasses 3 years ago, enough women have begun doing reno/resto type projects that Home Depot (and other hardware stores, I’m sure) have started carrying women’s and close-fitting safety glasses in their regular stock. So no need to order online unless you want something special. Next week, the glamorous world of ear protection!

Diggin’ the glasses, girl. Almost makes me want to go out and do handy work around the house.

    *recalls last time attempted handywork*

*recalls rejection for home owner’s claim*

    *recalls wait time in ER*

Oh screw it. I’ll wear’em and make people *think* I’m handy. It’s all in the illusion …

As safety glases go, those are HOT. I need to get a pair so I can give up the clear goggle look.
