Practical craft: The pvc laundry rack of awesomeness
Okay, so last week I’d freakin had it with that bag of wobbly sticks called a “drying rack” that you get at Bed, Bath and Targ-Mart. They never hold together but shiver and collapse under the weight of oh, I don’t know, 5 WHOLE t-shirts.
I went in to get something off the rack the other day and saw that S.O. had laid the pile of kindlng sideways on the floor because it had given up under, wait for it, running shorts. That’s right. Nylon. Running shorts. That, right there, was the Nike-branded straw.
So in surfing around for options, I came across this description of a do-it-yourself laundry rack at pvcworkshop.com. It looked super simple to build so I gave it shot. In all of 45 minutes I had a sturdy and non-ridiculously-frustrating drying rack for the clothes. I expanded the directions and included photos if you’d like to make one for yourself.

Oh I am so excited about this! We just had 3 contractors over tonite to give us quotes on our bathroom and as soon as our bathroom is done the stupid temp. shower which is taking up all the space in my laundry room will be gone and I will have a glorious laundry room with space for a drying rack. I had no idea the BedBathBeyond & Tarmart (etc.) drying racks sucked. You just saved me a bunch of aggrivation and gave me a project that looks like its gonna be tinker toy type fun! Cant wait!
yay! glad to help. And think of all the other awesome things you could make out of pvc tinker-toys later!
this is the answer to my prayers!! and i’ll have bragging rights because i’ll have made it myself… thanks!
