Like college without the extra 15lbs
One day, Beth was reminiscing about how great it was to walk into the college cafeteria and dispense yourself breakfast from any of the12 cereal varieties featured in the built-in dispensers. Man, that REALLY was awesome. Only slightly less awesome than having chicken fingers and soft serve ice cream for dinner.
As this hearkening back to the days of yore happened in front of our friends M & A, they filed the info away and got us this for xmas. Rad. Rad. RAD!! And while I WISH ours was filled with Froot Loops as clearly recommended by the maker (Zevo), it actually holds popcorn. And I’m thoroughly in love with it both for the cool way it looks on my counter and the cool way it dispenses a perfect 1/2 cup of x with three turns. I want, like, 10 of these. I want to store all my dry goods in them a la Alton Brown. I want to gaze lovingly at my own personal bulk foods aisle. Then Beth told me yesterday, somewhat dreamily, that, if we ever have a kitchen with a leeettle more space, she thinks we should have a whole wall of these. Two people fantasizing about bean dispensers? That’s when you know you were made for each other.
I love, love, LOVE that. I can’t even think about what a disaster it would be with small children, but as soon as they are old enough I want eight.
We have a bunch of these in the kitchens at work. The contents change, but usually stuff like pretzels, trail mix, little green crunchy things, chocolate covered raisens, etc. Perfect to grab a handful before heading into a long meeting, but I’m afraid I’d snack too much if they were at home!
